Lake Maggiore: Winding Mountain Roads and Glamorous Promenades
Day 1: Isola Bella
You will be welcomed at Milan Malpensa Airport and taken to your hotel right on the shores of Lake Maggiore . You will get to know your fellow travelers over an aperitif, after which we will present the Mercedes-Benz SLs to you and explain the easy-to-understand road book. The first trip is a good way to get to know your Mercedes-Benz. In the early evening, you travel in proper style with old wooden boats around the brightly lit Isola Bella . A joint dinner on the island, which is deserted by tourists, ends the day.
Day 2: Centovalli, Ascona and the Lombard shore
On the second day an unforgettable route awaits you: rugged gorges and lonely mountain valleys in the Valle Cannobina. After crossing the Swiss border into Centovalli in Ticino, you will reach Ascona. On the picturesque promenade along the banks of Ascona you have the opportunity to take a walk and have an extensive lunch. In the afternoon you drive along the western shore road and admire sophisticated lake promenades. This evening will be at your leisure at the hotel.
Day 3: Rallye feeling in Mottarone Natural Park
On the third day you can experience the absolute rallye feeling in Mottarone Preserve: serpentines, intermediate throttle and the unmistakable sound of a classic Mercedes-Benz. You drive along impressive mountain roads up to the 1,490-metre-high Mottarone, from which you look down to Lake Maggiore and Lake d’Orta. The latter becomes your next destination, via winding mountain roads you reach the old town of Orta San Giulio, where you will have enough time for a walk through the picturesque alleys. On the way back to the hotel, you will cross two more nature preserves. A common farewell dinner takes place in a popular old town restaurant in Baveno.
Day 4: Castel Angera
In the morning, you will visit the town on the southern shore of Lake Maggiore. Castel Angera. The fortress, which was built in Roman times, is home to one of the most important noble families in Italy. Almost 150 steps lead up to the fortified tower, from where you can enjoy an incomparable view. Following the tour, you will have a last lunch together, then you will drive along the lakeshore, past the hermitage Santa Caterina del Sasso and further on to Laveno. The ferry will take you to the western shore, in the afternoon the classic cars will be returned to the hotel and the transfer to the airport in Milan.
Lake Maggiore, with its 212.5 square kilometres, lies on the border between Italy and Switzerland. Its west bank is part of the Italian region of Piemont, the eastern shore lies in the Lombardy region and the north part in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
