We begin our tour in true Tuscan style: at Rocca delle Macìe, an iconic Chianti winery nestled among rolling hills and old stone walls. Here, a private wine tasting sets the tone – relaxed, refined, and full of character. In the evening, we dine at Passo dopo Passo, a true insider’s tip among local gourmets. Set on a panoramic terrace surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, it’s the perfect place to savor your first evening under the Tuscan sky.
This morning, the engines roar to life: we head west in our classic Alfa Romeo Spiders, following winding roads through the heart of the Maremma – a land of cypress-lined lanes, medieval villages and the scent of wild herbs in the air. Our destination is Piombino, a bustling ferry port and gateway to the Tuscan Archipelago. From here, we set sail for Elba – no longer a secret, but still one of the most enchanting islands in the Mediterranean, and once Napoleon’s place of exile. We arrive at our home for the next few days: the Villa Ottone, a five-star residence set right on the coast, with a private beach and timeless Mediterranean elegance.
After breakfast, we set off for a full island tour – and today, the road itself is the star. Elba’s legendary coastal drive twists and turns above the sea, revealing one spectacular view after another: turquoise coves, remote beaches, pine-covered cliffs and sailboats dancing on the horizon. We pass through picturesque villages like Marciana Marina, where elegant promenades invite a pause. In the evening, we head inland for a farm-to-table dinner at Agriturismo Monte Fabrello, where everything served is grown or raised on the estate – a culinary celebration beneath the island’s starlit sky.
The morning is all about slowing down: sleep in, drift between beach and pool, and read in the shade of the pines—simply savor the here and now. Later, we take the Alfa Romeo Spider to explore the island’s east: elegant, maritime Porto Azzurro and the delightful hilltop village of Capoliveri, perched like an eyrie above the sea with charming little boutiques to browse. As evening falls, we dine just outside Porto Azzurro at the Sapereta winery, where the kitchen cooks at the highest level—celebrated by Gambero Rosso and recognized by the Michelin Guide. Look forward to a truly special night.
Morning sees us wave goodbye to Elba as the ferry carries us back to the mainland. The farewell is softened by one last drive on the Maremma’s most beautiful roads—another chance to guide the Alfa Romeo Spider through sweeping curves and soak up pure Tuscany. Our route leads to the walled medieval village of Monteriggioni, where the journey concludes and a private transfer will take you on to Florence Airport.

Elba, the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago, is a land of contrasts and surprises. Just over an hour by ferry from the mainland, it reveals a landscape of dramatic coastlines, forested hills, charming villages, and breathtaking panoramic roads – made for open-top touring in an elegant Alfa Romeo Spider.
Your first encounter is often with Portoferraio, the island’s historic capital. Nestled in a natural harbor and surrounded by fortresses once built to protect Napoleon Bonaparte, Portoferraio blends maritime flair with aristocratic stillness. Strolling its old town, aperitivo in hand, as the sun sets over the bay is the perfect introduction to Elba’s relaxed rhythm.
As your Alfa glides along the winding coastal roads, you’ll pass through fragrant pine woods and catch glimpses of hidden coves and wide blue horizons. The route to Porto Azzurro, with its elegant marina and sun-washed piazza, is one of the most picturesque on the island. Further west, Marina di Campo awaits – its long sandy beach and classic seafront promenade make it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Divers know this area well: Elba is famed for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, making it one of the top dive spots in Italy.
Rising inland, Capoliveri perches on a ridge with commanding sea views. Once the heart of Elba’s iron mining industry, its legacy lives on in an open-air museum that tells the story of centuries of underground labor. Today, the village is a charming mix of artisan boutiques, narrow lanes, and sweeping terraces – perfect for a leisurely espresso or late-morning stroll.
