Goodwood Revival is the Ascot of historic motorsport. Every September, 140,000 people make the pilgrimage to the south of England to drink champagne in vintage outfits and experience old warhorses and their racing cars that have made motorsport history. Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark and Graham Hill fought fierce duels on the Goodwood Motor Circuit right into the 1960s. At the end of 1966, international motorsport at Goodwood came to an end. In 1998, Lord March had the race track restored and started the revival as a classic race for sports cars built up to 1966.
In 14 different racing classes, former drivers compete for victory against ambitious or well-heeled private drivers or those who are both. On this stage, more than three dozen racers of international renown, ranging from Formula 1 world champions and Grand Prix winners to Le Mans winners and winners in endurance and touring car series face the challenge. The "Lavant Cup" and the "Lord March Trophy" are the most prestigious of the racing classes, so victory in these categories is particularly coveted.
The Goodwood Revival is a gigantic stage where visitors are not just spectators, but also participants. Here you can truly travel back in time to the beginnings and heyday of the automobile. The style, clothing, hairstyles and hats of the spectators make up a large part of this flair and harmonize perfectly with the historic vehicles, motorcycles and aircraft. If you want to be professionally dressed, have a real vintage hairstyle or take part in a tailoring workshop, you can do all this during the festival. Bands play music from different eras and invite you to dance in style. For all vintage lovers, a stroll through the High Street is the order of the day, where you can find vintage flavors to your heart's content, be it clothes, automobilia or devotional objects. An open-air cinema near the route shows classic films such as "Grease", while valuable vintage cars go under the hammer at the elegant Bonhams auction house. There are also some rides from the turn of the century that are still powered by steam.
