The Siena showcase lets you witness legendary cars not in a museum, but on the road where they belong.
The story of the Mille Migla is 100 years old. The origins of the thousand-mile race lie in the age-old rivalry between Milan and Brescia. After the contract for the construction of Italy’s first Grand Prix track in Monza near Milan was awarded in 1925, resourceful merchants from Brescia countered with a virtual race track. Instead of a circuit, the same track length as the Grand Prix,, but it was driven through the Italian landscape.
Until the present day, around 400 elite teams from over 40 countries compete in the Mille Miglia. Classic cars from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, and Alfa Romeo dominate the lineup, making this race an unparalleled showcase of automotive history. Many of the cars present can also be found at the Targa Florio and the Gran Premio Nuvolari
Other events like the Goodwood Revival are great events too, but the Mille Miglia remains the ultimate proving ground for endurance racing legends.
The energy of thousands of car enthusiasts in one place is truly exhilarating.

Every team receives a roadbook, which serves as their guide through the 1,600 km route. It includes:
The Mille Miglia is decided in regularity tests, not speed trials. The goal is to complete specific sections in an exact time so every fraction of a second matters!
To ensure fair competition, participants must follow strict regulations:
Mastering the rules and roadbook is the difference between just finishing and winning the Mille Miglia!
You too can ride through history in Brescia in an old-timer Mercedes-Benz at 1000 Miglia like Juan Manuel Fangio.
The 1000 Miglia is what legends are made of combining adrenaline, speed, skill and heroic drivers. From its exhilarating triumphs to its temporary tragic end in 1957, the Mille Miglia left an indelible mark on the world of racing. Here are just a few chapters in this story that will continue to write itself with at the wheel this summer.
One of the most unforgettable chapters in Mille Miglia history took place in 1955, when British driver Stirling Moss, alongside his co-driver Denis Jenkinson, did the impossible. Moss and Jenkinson completed the 992-mile Mille Miglia course in just 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds in a Mercedes-Benz SLR - similar to the SL that you will drive with us. This was an average speed of just under 160 km/h, an astounding accomplishment considering the race was run on open public roads where nothing was closed off and anything could happen.
Keep reading to see how he won and how you can borrow his strategy when you get behind the wheel in Mercedes-Benz SL with us.
The race that immortalized Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson. Learn from the best and study the road before to master your ride.
While Mercedes-Benz led the charge, the competition was fierce. Ferrari, Maserati, and Aston Martin were all eyeing the podium, and drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio, Karl Kling, and Hans Herrmann were some of the best to steer the roads of the 1000 Miglia. Here is how the race went down:
Moss' success wasn't just due to the Mercedes-Benz SLR's engineering or his own driving skill. A significant factor was Jenkinson’s preparation, as he spent months inspecting the race route and documenting it in a detailed logbook. This allowed Moss to push the car to its limits, knowing the route intimately. This method of preparation would become standard for endurance races in the years to come. You too should study the map before you drive!
The brakes were temporarily put on the legendary Mille Miglia when tragedy struck in 1957. For 30 years, the event had captivated crowds and drivers alike, but that year, an incident would change everything. On May 12, 1957, the 24th edition of the Mille Miglia ended in disaster just 50 kilometers from the finish line. Alfonso de Portago, driving a Ferrari 335 S, lost control of his vehicle on the Strada Statale 236 Goitese. The car, traveling at speeds over 200 km/h, crashed into a telegraph pole before careening into a crowd of spectators. The accident claimed the lives of de Portago, his co-driver, and several onlookers, including three children.
Just moments before Alfonso de Portago’s tragic accident that changed the Mille Miglia forever in 1957. Be careful out there, it's not a race.
The shock and grief that followed the tragedy led to nationwide outrage. The Mille Miglia, once seen as a thrilling and celebrated race, was now considered too dangerous. Public outcry, particularly from the church and state, led to the eventual cancellation of the event, and the 1957 race would be the last of its kind.
The Mille Miglia would longer run as a race after 1957 but would be re-introduced only 20 years later as a regularity rally.
We don’t tell you this story to scare you but to remind you to be cautious behind the wheel. In the present day the narrow roads are still filled with spectators and the unexpected should always be expected so please stay vigilant. With our guided rally groups we always like to keep the balance of freedom and safety to ensure maximum good times while remaining in control.
We can assure you, this will be the ride of a lifetime!
