SCHLIERSEE
The Schliersee monastery was first documented in 779. Schliersee and the town of the same name were quiet and contemplative until the 19th century when it was developed into an idyllic holiday destination.
Despite the ever increasing flow of visitors, nature has been largely spared from destructive environmental factors. Along the Schliersee you will find a number of cultural treasures, such as the Hohenwaldeck ruins. The Schliersee at 785 m and the Spitzingsee at 1085 m in the Miesbach Oberland, the soul of Bavaria, are lakes of highest water quality.
SPITZINGSEE
Because of its remoteness Spitzingsee, the lake and the town, are still a well-kept secret. The surrounding mountains with their colourful alpine meadows, dense and dark forests and the towering Zugspitze form a fantastic backdrop for unforgettable trips and walks.
Just 5 miles south of the Schliersee, Spitzingsee, with its ban on building along the lakeshore, is the centre of a unique nature reserve.
