Giulia GTC (1964 – 1966)

Buoyed by the breakthrough success of the newly introduced Giulia Series , the Alfa Romeo management at the beginning of the 1960s considered using the same technology in an open sports car. A Spider to supersede the legendary Giulietta and Giulia Spider had been in the planning for a while but disagreement about its design delayed production start to 1966. That’s why Alfa Romeo decided to launch an exclusive small series.

The Milan Carrozzeria Touring converted the Giulia Sprint GT coupe into a four-seat convertible; only 880 vehicles were built between 1964 and 1966. A name was easily found: the car is "Giulia GTC" explained by the official sales brochure as Giulia GT Cabriolet. The Giulia GTC was a sporty touring car for high earners, its price tag in 1964 showed 3,500 US $. In return the GTC driver enjoyed not only a glimpse at heaven but also a 106 hp strong 1,6-litre twin-carburettor engine and could accelerate the lightweight convertible (2,000 lbs.) - to impressive 112 mph. Sovereign road holding is attributed to the strengthened bodywork done by Touring.

Due to the low production numbers, the Giulia GTC was rarely seen on the streets as a new car and its rarity is reflected today in its absence from the classic car market. We are pleased to offer you these fine classic convertibles within the Nostalgic fleet.

It´s like turning up at a pool party with Sophia Loren on your arm. Except Giulia has aged better. read more...
